Saints Peter and Paul Association
The Association – which Pope John Paul II once memorably called the “Association of the Pope’s House” – is located in the Apostolic Palace with its entrance on the San Damaso Courtyard. Inside there is a special chapel with paintings by Vittorio Trainino. This chapel used to be part of the quarters of the Palatine Guard of Honour. Every Sunday the Association’s spiritual assistant celebrates Mass with the participation of its members. The spiritual director has an assistant and both are appointed by the Secretariat of State which also approves the election of the president by the permanent members according to the statutes.
The Association has annual membership dues and receives donations from benefactors. For over 34 years it has published its own periodical entitled “Encounter” which provides news and focuses on formation.
Meeting with members and their families on 17 June 2006, Pope Benedict XVI said he was very pleased to renew his gratitude to the Association for the many years of service to the Successor of Peter.
