The Italian Association of Philatelic Press (USFI) was founded on 8 May 1966 at an historic conference gathered at the Palazzo Strozzi in Florence. The USFI brings together distinct groups of professionals, including journalists, publicists, writers and publishers, who are all dedicated to stamp collecting. Many coin and phone card collectors also belong to the association. According to its statutes, the USFI promotes the exchange of information concerning the Italian philatelic world, including specialized areas of interest. Through the internet, articles in newspapers and periodicals, radio and television reports, it promotes the mutual exchange of news, information and experiences. It maintains relations with national and international organizations and sends its own representatives to their meetings. It also hosts meetings, trade shows and study groups. The USFI facilitates special historical studies among its members while supporting and recognizing excellence in philatelic studies through publication.
