EXTRAORDINARY ISSUE Postal Convention Sovereign Order of Malta - Vatican City State  

On 24 June 2008 the President of the Governorate of Vatican City, Cardinal Giovanni Lajolo, and the Grand Chancellor of the Order of Malta, Jean-Pierre Mazery, signed a Postal Convention between the Sovereign Order of Malta and Vatican City State. The ceremony took place at the Palace of the Governorate in Vatican City. As of July 1st stamps issued by Vatican City or by the Order of Malta are mutually recognised and have full validity. The stamp is triangular in format and displays the coat of arms of Vatican City State, while next to it is a decorative stamp, also triangular in shape, with the coat of arms of the Sovereign Order of Malta.
