S.E.R. Mons. Fernando Vérgez Alzaga, L.C.
Born in Salamanca (Spain) on 1 March 1945. Religious priest of the Congregation of the Legionaries of Christ. He was ordained to the priesthood on 26 November 1969.
On 1 August 1972 he began his service to the Holy See at the Congregation for Religious and Secular Institutes, and from 1984 at the Pontifical Council for the Laity. From 1975, for 23 years, he was personal secretary of the Servant of God Cardinal Eduardo Francisco Pironio. On June 2004 he was appointed Head of Office of the Internet Office of the Holy See of the Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See, and on February 2008 he was appointed Director of the Department of Telecommunications of the Governorate of the Vatican City State.
Appointed Secretary General of the Governorate of the Vatican City State on 30th August 2013 by His Holiness Pope Francis.
