The Department of Goods and Supplies is in charge of the distribution of food, textiles, clothing, petrol, tobacco and other products, through various points of sale inside Vatican City and extraterritorial areas.
“The Department of Goods and Supplies is in charge of operating commercial activities overseen directly by the State as a monopoly, and supervising those given in concession to third parties. The Department ensures the supply of goods to the State entities involved.” (Law on the Governing of the State CCCLXXXIV- art.18)
The latest developments in this area include the transfer of some offices and a warehouse used by the Department to spaces in the Governorate building previously serving as merchandise points of sale. The Train Station has also become the location for the clothing, tobacco and consumer electronics stores.
