Così Papa Francesco, giovedì mattina, 20 giugno, ai partecipanti al secondo convegno internazionale dedicato al ricordo dell’eredità scientifica di Monsignor Georges Lemaître (1894-1966), il fisico belga che ha sviluppato quella che oggi è conosciuta come la teoria del Big Bang.
Il Cardinale Fernando Vérgez Alzaga, Presidente della Pontificia Commissione per lo Stato della Città del Vaticano e Presidente del Governatorato, è stato insignito dell'Ordine del Quetzal, massima onorificenza del Guatemala. La consegna è avvenuta, giovedì mattina, 20 giugno, nel Palazzo del Governatorato. Per commemorare la Giornata internazionale delle donne in diplomazia, che si celebra il 24 giugno, Suor Raffaella Petrini, Segretario Generale del Governatorato dello Stato della Città del Vaticano, ha partecipato a un piccolo ricevimento all’Ambasciata della Repubblica di Corea presso la Santa Sede.
“La riforma finanziaria avviata da Papa Benedetto XVI e proseguita con determinazione da Papa Francesco ha portato a profondi cambiamenti all'interno delle strutture e procedure della Santa Sede e dello Stato della Città del Vaticano”. Così Suor Raffaella Petrini, delle Suore Francescane dell'Eucaristia, Segretario Generale del Governatorato dello Stato della Città del Vaticano, nel saluto ai partecipanti al workshop sul tema: “Transparency and Accountability in the Catholic Church: A Practical Journey”. L’incontro si è tenuto, mercoledì mattina, 19 giugno, nell'Aula Vecchia del Sinodo in Vaticano.
Pope Francis passed away peacefully this morning, Monday, April 21, at 7:35 a.m.
He gave himself completely to the Church, to his brothers and sisters, and to humanity. His heart has ceased to beat, but his voice will echo forever in the minds of the men and women of our time, in those who had the privilege to hear his words, to witness his prophetic gestures, and to follow his Magisterium.
Until the end, he continued to serve the Church, never taking time for himself, as the needs of the Church were always his priority. Just as he consistently asked others to reject a throwaway mentality and to never discriminate, he never held back in proclaiming God’s mercy to the world. He made this the central theme of his pontificate.
On October 8 and 9, the conference “Ital_IA – Between Public Data and Algorithms” was held in the Carassa-Dadda Auditorium of the University Politecnico di Milano. The event was promoted by the Italian Customs and Monopolies Agency and Sogei (General Information Technology Company), with the scientific contribution of the Politecnico di Milano. It consisted of two days of discussion dedicated to the role of Artificial Intelligence and public data in decision-making processes and in services for citizens and institutions.

A new Marian mosaic has been inaugurated and blessed in the Vatican Gardens. It is the work dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Sorrows, Patroness of Slovakia. The ceremony took place on Friady morning, , in the presence of the President of the Slovak Republic, H.E. Mr. Peter Pellegrini.
The Postal and Philately Service (a member of PostEurop since 2012) of the Directorate of Telecommunications and Information Systems of the Governorate took part in the 41st General Assembly of PostEurop, with a delegation composed of the Head of Service, Rev. Felice Bruno, and the Service official, Vincenzo Marrese. The meeting took place from October 7 to 9 in Tirana, Albania.

The solemn blessing and inauguration of the image took place on the morning of Tuesday, September 9, in the presence of Cardinals Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State, Leonardo Sandri, Vice Dean of the College of Cardinals and Fernando Vérgez Alzaga, President Emeritus of the Governorate of Vatican City State, Víctor Manuel Fernández, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, Monsignors Lucio Adrián Ruiz, Secretary of the Dicastery of Communications and Guillermo Javier Karcher, Official of the Secretariat of State, Sister Raffaella Petrini, President of the Governorate, H.E. Luis Pablo María Beltramino, Ambassador of the Argentine Republic to the Holy See, bishops, priests, religious men and women, and representatives of the Argentine community residing in Rome.
Cardinal Fernando Vérgez Alzaga and Sr. Raffaella Petrini, respectively, President and Secretary General of the Governorate of Vatican City State, will inaugurate the Nativity Scene and light the Christmas tree, that will be on display in Saint Peter’s Square throughout the Christmas season. The inauguration ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m., on 7 December.
