  • The Belgian Chapter of the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums visits the Vatican

    On Wednesday afternoon, May 28, the Belgian Chapter of the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums began their annual visit with the celebration of the Holy Mass in the Church of Mary, Mother of the Family in the Vatican Governorate. The Mass was celebrated by Monsignor Terence Hogan, Coordinator of the Office for Relations with the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums.

    A common journey

    “Forty-one years of history of the Patrons of the Arts of the Vatican Museums are the result of a common journey”, Sr. Raffaella Petrini, General Secretary of the Governorate of Vatican City State, said in her greeting to the annual meeting of the Chapters of the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums held at the Taylor Education Center in New Orleans on Sunday afternoon, 22 September, the second to last day of her visit to the United States of America.

    I Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums (PAVM) hanno l'obiettivo di preservare e promuovere la straordinaria collezione d'arte dei Musei Vaticani. Fondata nel 1982 in seguito a una mostra itinerante negli Stati Uniti che toccò città come New York, Chicago e San Francisco, l'organizzazione nacque dalla volontà di alcuni appassionati di contribuire al restauro delle opere esposte.

    Questi mecenati, ispirati dalla capacità dell'arte di elevare e arricchire lo spirito umano, si unirono sotto il nome di Patrons of the Arts. La missione dell'organizzazione è promuovere, restaurare e preservare le collezioni artistiche e gli edifici dei Musei Vaticani.

    I Patrons of the Arts sono un'organizzazione interconfessionale e senza scopo di lucro. I membri, suddivisi in capitoli regionali, promuovono la conoscenza dell'arte vaticana attraverso eventi locali.

    Grazie al loro contributo, i Musei Vaticani possono:

    Promotion, restoration and conservation

    The Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums (PAVM) aims to preserve and promote the extraordinary art collection of the Vatican Museums. Founded in 1982 following a traveling exhibition in the United States that touched cities such as New York, Chicago and San Francisco, the organization was born out of the desire of a number of enthusiasts to contribute to the restoration of the works on display.

    These patrons, inspired by art's ability to uplift and enrich the human spirit, united under the name Patrons of the Arts. The organization's mission is to promote, restore and preserve the art collections and buildings of the Vatican Museums.

    The Patrons of the Arts is an interdenominational, nonprofit organization. Members, divided into regional chapters, promote awareness of Vatican art through local events.

    Thanks to their contributions, the Vatican Museums can:

    - Restore and preserve works of art of the Holy See;

    - Disseminate the cultural, spiritual and historical heritage housed in the Vatican Museums;

    - Improve and enrich museum facilities and collections.

    Patrons of the Arts are active worldwide, with the largest number of chapters located in North America.

    Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota and North Dakota, New England, California and Northwest, New York, New York, Ohio, Texas, and Washington D.C. in the United States are joined by the Canada chapter.

    Internationally, chapters include Asia, Belgium, Italy, the French Riviera and Monaco, as well as Portugal.

    Los “Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums” (PAVM) tienen como objetivo preservar y promover la extraordinaria colección de arte de los Museos Vaticanos. Fundada en 1982 tras una exposición itinerante en los Estados Unidos, que visitó ciudades como Nueva York, Chicago y San Francisco, la organización surgió del deseo de algunos personas entusiastas de contribuir a la restauración de las obras expuestas.

    Estos mecenas, inspirados por la capacidad del arte para elevar y enriquecer el espíritu humano, se unieron bajo el nombre de “Patrons of the Arts”. La misión de la organización es promover, restaurar y preservar las colecciones artísticas y los edificios de los Museos Vaticanos.

    Los “Patrons of the Arts” son una organización interconfesional y sin fines de lucro. Sus miembros, divididos en capítulos regionales, promueven el conocimiento del arte vaticano a través de eventos locales.

    Les Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums (PAVM) ont pour objectif de préserver et de promouvoir l'extraordinaire collection d'art des Musées du Vatican. Fondée en 1982 à la suite d'une exposition itinérante aux États-Unis qui a touché des villes comme New York, Chicago et San Francisco, l'organisation est née de la volonté de quelques passionnés de contribuer à la restauration des œuvres exposées.

    Ces mécènes, inspirés par la capacité de l'art à élever et à enrichir l'esprit humain, se sont regroupés sous le nom de Patrons of the Arts. La mission de l'organisation est de promouvoir, restaurer et préserver les collections d'art et les bâtiments des Musées du Vatican.

    Les Patrons of the Arts sont une organisation interconfessionnelle à but non lucratif. Les membres, répartis en sections régionales, encouragent la connaissance de l'art du Vatican à travers des événements locaux.

    Grâce à leur contribution, les Musées du Vatican peuvent :

    The bond between art and faith, between evangelization and creative expression and the role of the Vatican Museums within this context were some of the topics discussed at a round table discussion between Cardinal Blase Joseph Cupich, Archbishop of Chicago, and Sr. Raffaella Petrini, Secretary General of the Governorate of Vatican City State, held on Saturday afternoon, 2 November at the University Club of Chicago. Moderated by Rev. Louis J. Cameli, Delegate of formation and mission of the Archdiocese.

    Ai Musei Vaticani giornata di studio sulla statua bronzea dell’Ercole Mastai

    La colossale statua bronzea dell’Ercole Mastai - così chiamata, perché inserita nella collezione dei Musei Vaticani da Pio IX – è stata sottoposta a un complesso intervento conservativo. Il progetto di studio e restauro è stato reso possibile grazie al generoso contributo di Rick and Lisa Altig, del Capitolo Northwest dei Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums.
    Per martedì 3 dicembre, la Direzione dei Musei e dei Beni Culturali, ha promosso una giornata di studio sul tema “Ercole Mastai – Dal ritrovamento ai restauri”, nel corso della quale saranno spiegati anche i dettagli del recente intervento.

    La colosal estatua de bronce de Hércules Mastai, llamada así porque fue incorporada a la colección de los Museos Vaticanos por el Papa Pío IX, ha sido sometida a una compleja intervención conservadora. Este proyecto de estudio y restauración ha sido posible gracias a la generosa contribución de Rick y Lisa Altig, miembros del capítulo del Noroeste de los Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums.

    Journée d’étude aux Musées du Vatican sur la statue en bronze de l’Hercule Mastai

    La statue colossale en bronze de l’Hercule Mastai – ainsi appelée parce qu’elle a été insérée dans la collection des Musées du Vatican par le Pape Pie IX – a fait l’objet d’une opération de conservation complexe. Le projet d’étude et de restauration a été rendu possible grâce à la généreuse contribution de Rick et Lisa Altig du Northwest Chapter des Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums.
    Le mardi 3 décembre, la Direction des Musées et des biens culturels a organisé une journée d’étude sur le thème « L’Hercule Mastai - De la découverte à la restauration », au cours de laquelle les détails de la récente intervention seront également expliqués.

    The members of the “Italian and International” Chapter of the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums, led by Sabrina Zappia, President and Amy Gallant Sullivan, Chair of the Chapter, visited the Vatican Museums on Friday afternoon, May 23.

    They were welcomed by Giuseppe Puglisi-Alibrandi, Secretary General of the Governorate of the Vatican City State and by Monsignor Terence Hogan, Coordinator of the Office for Relations with the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums.

Vi hanno partecipato Lisa e Rick Altig con il figlio Andy e un gruppo del Capitolo del Northwest dei Patrons.
