KINTO - Toyota Group’s Mobility Company Partners with Vatican City State on its Sustainable Mobility Plan

KINTO reaffirms its contribution to the Governorate of Vatican City State’s sustainable mobility plan, “Ecological Conversion 2030,” by expanding the range of passenger cars and commercial vehicles available to employees.

The entire Toyota and Lexus range, including electric commercial vehicles, will now be available through medium- and long-term rental solutions, helping to advance the ecological transition under way in Vatican City State.
The ceremony for the delivery of the first vehicles was held in the Vatican on 30 September, in the presence of the Secretaries General of the Governorate of Vatican City State, Archbishop Emilio Nappa and Giuseppe Puglisi-Alibrandi, and KINTO Italy General Manager Vincent Van Acker.

KINTO, Toyota Group’s mobility company, and the Governorate of Vatican City State have signed an agreement for the supply of zero- and low-emission vehicles in support of the sustainable mobility development program known as “Ecological Conversion 2030.” Among its objectives, the program aims to reduce the carbon footprint of the Vatican City State vehicle fleet through the gradual replacement of existing vehicles by the end of the decade.

The agreement also includes a second project for employees of the Governorate of Vatican City State. A selection of vehicles from the Toyota and Lexus ranges will be made available through advantageous medium- and long-term rental plans, encouraging employees to play an active role in reducing environmental impact by choosing innovative and environmentally sustainable vehicles, thereby contributing to the broader transition towards sustainable mobility.

Both projects are therefore consistent with the environmental strategy promoted by the Governorate of Vatican City State. By putting into practice the principles set forth in the Encyclical Laudato si’ and the Apostolic Exhortation Laudate Deum, the Governorate continues to develop projects and solutions capable of making a tangible contribution to reducing environmental impact. The projects are also fully aligned with KINTO’s strategy, which seeks to make the mobility of both people and goods increasingly sustainable through its multi-technology solutions.

KINTO offers a broad range of mobility solutions encompassing different levels of electrification and, consequently, emission reduction, with the aim of enabling an effective technological transition within a short timeframe. These range from Full Hybrid models, capable of operating in electric mode for at least 50% of the time in urban driving without the need for external charging, to the Plug-in Hybrid range, which currently offers an all-electric driving range of more than 120 km, and fully electric models featuring extended driving ranges and fast-charging capabilities, also available for commercial vehicles.

“We are honored to be able to provide Vatican City State with a fleet of vehicles that represents far more than simply a mobility choice. We are confident that the Toyota Group’s multi-technology approach, combined with KINTO’s flexible mobility solutions, offers the most effective and accessible way to manage the technological transition currently taking place in mobility,” said Vincent Van Acker, General Manager of KINTO Italy.

Some of the vehicles covered by the agreement were delivered on 30 September at the Governorate of Vatican City State, in the presence of the Secretaries General of the Governorate of Vatican City State, Archbishop Emilio Nappa and Giuseppe Puglisi-Alibrandi, and KINTO Italy General Manager Vincent Van Acker.
