    A room at the offices of the Republic of Italy’s National Cybersecurity Agency (ACN) has been dedicated to Blessed Carlo Acutis. Sr. Raffaella Petrini, Secretary General of the Governorate of Vatican City State, participated in the dedication ceremony, held on Monday afternoon, 4 November, at the Agency’s headquarters in Rome.

  • A stamp and a special postmark to celebrate the rebirth of the Basilica of Saint Benedict in Norcia

    The Postal and Philatelic Service of the Governorate of Vatican City State celebrates the reopening of the Basilica of Saint Benedict in Norcia — rebuilt after the severe damage caused by the 2016 earthquake — with the issue of a stamp and a special “Die Emissionis” postmark.

  • A stamp that unites Saint Peter’s Cupola and the Panama Canal to celebrate the centenary of diplomatic relations between the Holy See and Panama

    This year marks the centenary of diplomatic relations between the Holy See and Panama. To commemorate the event, on 21 May, the Governorate of Vatican City State issued a stamp, produced by the Post and Philately Service.


    The stamp will be presented, with the symbolic official cancellation on stamped envelope, on Wednesday afternoon, 21 August, at the end of a eucharistic celebration in Rome’s San Lorenzo in Damaso Basilica, presided by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State.

    Sister Raffaella Petrini, General Secretary of the Governorate of Vatican City State, and the outgoing Ambassador of Panama to the Holy See, H.E. Miroslava Rosas Vargas, will attend the presentation. A commemorative volume for the centenary of diplomatic relations will also be offered.

    The image of the stamp features two flags and two symbolic images of the two nations: the Cupola of Saint Peter and a landscape that ideally unites the Panama Canal depicting a sunrise on the Pacific Ocean and a sunset on the Atlantic Ocean, that can only be seen in this part of the world.

    On Monday, 16 September, a stamp will be presented in the Conference Hall of the Vatican Museums by Cardinal Fernando Vérgez Alzaga

    Forty years ago, the Holy See and the United States of America began diplomatic relations. The Governorate of Vatican City State will issue a stamp by the Post and Philately Service of the Directorate of Telecommunications and Information Systems, to commemorate the anniversary.

Terence Hogan, Coordinator of the Office for Relations with Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums, during his homily at a Eucharistic celebration on Wednesday afternoon, 29 January, in the Church of Mary, Mother of the Family in the Vatican. The Mass was attended by Lisa and Rick Altig, their son Andy, and a group of members of the Northwest Chapter of the Patrons.

  • Agreement between the Governorate and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation for securing marble cladding for the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls

    For another thousand years of splendour

    "The Basilica of St Paul Outside the Walls - Jubilee 2025": is the theme of the Agreement between the Governorate of Vatican City State and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation of Azerbaijan, which will be signed on Wednesday morning, 11 September, in the Palace of the Governorate, by Cardinal Fernando Vérgez Alzaga, President of the Governorate, and Anar Alakbarov, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and executive Director.

    Cardinal James Michael Harvey, Archpriest of the Papal Basilica of Saintt Paul Outside the Walls, Sr. Raffaella Petrini, General Secretary of the Governorate, Mr Ilgar Yusif oğlu Mukhtarov, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Holy See and Mr Salvatore Farina, Director of the Directorate of Infrastructures and Services, will participate in the signing ceremony.

    The project is funded by the Foundation for the safety and preservation of the marble cladding and decorative apparatuses of the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls, in preparation for the upcoming Jubilee. The intervention was necessary to ensure the public’s safe transit and passage into the Basilica, as structural movements and widespread rise in water have degraded the marble cladding of the walls and of the columns of the naves.

    During the restoration works, the marble surfaces that decorate the aisles and transept of the Basilica will be covered for protection.

  • Agreement between the Governorate of Vatican City State and Elli Mobility for charging services and electric vehicle fleet management

    An agreement was signed on Friday, April 10, between the Governorate of Vatican City and Elli Mobility, a company of the Volkswagen Group. The agreement concerns the adoption of Elli Mobility’s card and the use of its centralized digital platform to manage the charging of the electric vehicle fleet.

  • Agreement Signed Between the Holy See and Italy for the Construction of an Agrivoltaic Plant

    A step forward has been taken toward the construction of an agrivoltaic plant in a vast area of land belonging to the Holy See on the outskirts of Rome, known as Santa Maria di Galeria. On Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 12:00 noon, an agreement between the Holy See and the Italian Republic was signed at Palazzo Borromeo, the headquarters of the Embassy of Italy to the Holy See in Rome, as announced by a communiqué from the Holy See.

  • Agreement signed for the restoration of Raphael’s second Loggia in the Apostolic Palace

    On the morning of Wednesday, June 24, an agreement was signed at the Governorate Palace for the restoration project of the west wing of the Second Loggia of the Apostolic Palace, the so-called Loggia of Raphael. The agreement was signed by Sr. Raffaella Petrini, President of the Governorate of the Vatican City State, and Bénédicte de Montlaur, President and CEO of the World Monuments Fund. Present at the signing were, among others, Archbishop Emilio Nappa and Giuseppe Puglisi-Alibrandi, Secretaries General of the Governorate, Stephen and Christine Schwarzman, and Barbara Jatta, Director of Vatican Museums and Cultural Heritage.

    In the Vatican on November 11, in the Bologna Hall of the Apostolic Palace, the annual meeting for 2025 of the Joint Committee between the Vatican City State and the European Union was held in accordance with the provisions of the Monetary Convention of 17 December 2009, regarding the use of the Euro as the official currency within the Vatican State and the procedures for its issuance.
