Opening of the “Tigre-Annona” supermarket in the Vatican

We are delighted to finally announce the opening of the “Tigre-Annona” supermarket located within Vatican City.

Following major renovation works on the historic supermarket inside the Vatican—formerly known as the “Spaccio Annonario”—the new store, with a completely renewed look and an expanded offering of products, is ready to open its doors to the employees of the Governorate and the Holy See.

On Tuesday, October 14, at 5:00 p.m., the official inauguration and blessing ceremony is scheduled, attended by the Vatican’s governing bodies and the representatives of Magazzini Gabrielli S.p.A., the company managing the store under the new “Tigre-Annona” brand.

The store will open to the public on Wednesday morning, October 15, at 7:00 a.m.

This will be the first opportunity to explore the new space, meet the team, celebrate this new beginning, discover new products and take advantage of exclusive offers to the public.

The new store features a modern, welcoming, and functional environment, designed to provide a unique, high-quality customer experience for shoppers, both long-standing and new.

The renovation involved both the interior spaces and displays, focusing on quality, comfort, and sustainability, with special attention to recycling, energy savings, efficiency and environmental respect. The store is now equipped with LED lighting featuring intelligent and adaptive controls, as well as remote management systems for continuous monitoring of refrigerators and cooling systems.

The goal is to offer not only a wide selection of quality products but also attentive and personalized service while strengthening ties with the local community.

The new supermarket management also considers employee well-being, with a new range of services and policies of low prices every day, in addition to a deferred shopping pickup service.

There will also be concrete initiatives dedicated to individuals with specific needs: exclusive benefits for customers over 70, special discounts for large families and advantages for new parents with children aged 0 to 3 years.

The new “Tigre-Annona” also features extended opening hours:
Monday to Saturday, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Monsignor Hogan, Coordinator of the Office for Relations with Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums, speaks about the Florida Chapter’s contribution to the restoration of the Roman statues in the Atrium of the Quattro Cancelli.

A Mission in Service of Art and Faith

More than a simple contribution, the mission of the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums is a true vocation. Providing the opportunity to restore, recover, preserve, and perpetuate the integrity of the artworks housed in the Vatican Museums is both a challenge and a life choice that involves each and every donor personally. This is certainly the case for the members of the Florida Chapter of the Patrons, who recently contributed to the restoration of twelve Roman statues and two sarcophagi displayed in the niches of the Atrium of the Quattro Cancelli. We discussed this in an interview on www.vaticanstate.va with Monsignor Terence Hogan, Coordinator of the Office for Relations with the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums.

Interview with Engineer Salvatore Farina on the Role of the Directorate of Infrastructure and Services in Recent Construction Works

Fifty building sites underway

There is no doubt that the prestigious palaces, structures and buildings of the Vatican require constant conservation work and, at times, more substantial interventions. This was the case for the barracks of the Gendarmerie and the Pontifical Swiss Guards at Castel Gandolfo, but also for the installation of photovoltaic roofing over the Courtyard of the Corazze at the Vatican Museums and on the Vignaccia warehouse in the Vatican Gardens. All of this falls under the responsibility of the Directorate of Infrastructure and Services of the Governorate of Vatican City State, as explained in this interview with www.vaticanstate.va by its Director, Engineer Salvatore Farina.

The President of the Governorate at the Presentation of the Book "Economics for Ecclesiastics. A Guide"

Economics at the Service of the Person

An economic dimension “essentially understood as being at the service of the person, and thus directed at meeting his or her needs, rather than at the rationalization of scarce resources,” and making economic choices as “integral tools of the Church’s missionary action, through which the evangelical word can be concretely manifested” realizing that spirit of solidarity which breaks with the throwaway culture promoted by the ‘technocratic paradigm.’

At the Grotto of Lourdes in the Vatican Gardens, Pope Leo XIV celebrated Mass for the Patron Saint of the Gendarmerie Corps

A service for the good of the Church

A service carried out above all “behind the scenes,” and a task that “builds security, order, respect,” considering that “it is not just a profession: it is a service for the good of the Church.” Thus spoke Pope Leo XIV, addressing the members of the Vatican City State Gendarmerie Corps during the Eucharistic Concelebration, presided at the Grotto of Lourdes in the Vatican Gardens on Sunday afternoon, October 5, on the feast of their Patron, Saint Michael the Archangel.
