The members of the “Italian and International” Chapter of the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums, led by Sabrina Zappia, President and Amy Gallant Sullivan, Chair of the Chapter, visited the Vatican Museums on Friday afternoon, May 23.

They were welcomed by Giuseppe Puglisi-Alibrandi, Secretary General of the Governorate of the Vatican City State and by Monsignor Terence Hogan, Coordinator of the Office for Relations with the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums.

Ilse Aigner, President of the Bavarian Landtag (the parliament of the Free State of Bavaria), accompanied by an official delegation, was received on the morning of September 10 by Sister Raffaella Petrini, President of the Governorate of Vatican City State.

A warm meeting of friendship and sharing took place between Sister Raffaella Petrini, President of the Governorate of Vatican City State, and a group of 17 young university students from the Diocese of Trieste, on Tuesday morning, 4 March, in the Palace of the Governorate. The students were led by Fr. Lorenzo Magarelli, Episcopal Delegate of the Diocesan Service of University Pastoral Care and Director of the diocesan weekly, “Il Domenicale di San Giusto”, and Fr. Sergio Frausin, Episcopal Delegate of Culture and University Pastoral Care.

Twenty-Five Years of Collaboration

Nearly twenty-five years after the first technical internship inside the Vatican carried out with students from Villanova University in Pennsylvania, a delegation from the Directorate of Telecommunications and Information Systems of the Governorate of Vatican City State visited the campus of the American university, which had been previously attended by Pope Leo XIV.

Un incontro cordiale, all’insegna dell’amicizia e della condivisione, quello tra Sr. Raffaella Petrini, Presidente del Governatorato dello Stato della Città del Vaticano, e un gruppo di diciassette giovani universitari della diocesi di Trieste. Erano guidati da don Lorenzo Magarelli, Delegato vescovile per il Servizio diocesano di pastorale universitaria, e direttore del settimanale diocesano Il Domenicale di San Giusto, e da don Sergio Frausin, Delegato Episcopale per la Cultura e la Pastorale Universitaria.

I membri del Capitolo “Italian and International” dei Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums, guidati da Sabrina Zappia, presidente, e da Amy Gallant Sullivan, leader del Capitolo, hanno compiuto una visita ai Musei Vaticani, venerdì pomeriggio, 23 maggio.

È iniziata con la celebrazione della Messa, la visita del Capitolo del Belgio dei Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums. L’ha celebrata Monsignor Terence Hogan, Coordinatore dell'Ufficio Rapporti con i Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums, mercoledì pomeriggio, 28 maggio, nella chiesa di Maria, Madre della Famiglia, in Vaticano.

Arte, bellezza, storia e fede sostengono la speranza

“Su questa collina vaticana ricordiamo quei grandi uomini, donne e bambini che hanno dato la loro vita nella fede in Gesù, il Figlio di Dio”. Così, Monsignor Terence Hogan, Coordinatore dell'Ufficio Rapporti con i Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums, nell’omelia durante la celebrazione eucaristica, mercoledì pomeriggio, 29 gennaio, nella chiesa di Maria, Madre della Famiglia in Vaticano. Vi hanno partecipato Lisa e Rick Altig con il figlio Andy e un gruppo del Capitolo del Northwest dei Patrons.

Ilse Aigner, Presidente del Landtag bavarese (il parlamento dello Stato Libero di Baviera), accompagnata da una Delegazione ufficiale, è stata ricevuta, questa mattina, 10 settembre, da Sr. Raffaella Petrini, Presidente del Governatorato dello Stato della Città del Vaticano.

Suor Raffaella Petrini, Presidente del Governatorato dello Stato della Città del Vaticano, mercoledì mattina, 4 marzo, ha incontrato, in visita di cortesia, la dott.ssa Doris Schmidauer, consorte del Presidente della Repubblica Federale d’Austria Alexander Van der Bellen.  

Il Presidente del Governatorato, Sr. Raffaella Petrini, ha incontrato, venerdì mattina, 12 dicembre, Monsignor Tadeusz Wojda, Arcivescovo di Danzica e Presidente della Conferenza Episcopale polacca, accompagnato dal segretario particolare, don Michał Siennicki, in visita di cortesia. 

Venticinque anni di collaborazione

A quasi venticinque anni dal primo tirocinio tecnico realizzato con l’Università di Villanova della Pennsylvania, una delegazione della Direzione delle Telecomunicazioni e dei Sistemi Informatici del Governatorato dello Stato della Città del Vaticano ha visitato il campus dell’ateneo statunitense, già frequentato in passato da Papa Leone XIV.

Nella mattinata di mercoledì 25 marzo la delegazione guidata dal CEO di Poste Albania Etien Xhafaj ha fatto visita alla Sede delle Poste Vaticane, dove è stato accolto dal Direttore della Direzione delle Telecomunicazioni e dei Sistemi Informatici, ingegner Antonino Intersimone e dal Capo del Servizio Poste e Filatelia don Felice Bruno.

I rapporti tra gli scienziati e la Chiesa non sono sempre stati facili. Al punto che Galileo venne condannato nel 1633 per aver difeso l’eliocentrismo. Bisognerà aspettare il 1992 e un discorso di Giovanni Paolo II per riconoscere ufficialmente un errore rimasto celebre. Da allora le cose sono cambiate. Nel XX secolo, il canonico belga Georges Lemaître elaborò la sua famosa teoria del Big Bang. Nel 1930, il Vaticano aprì il suo osservatorio a Castel Gandolfo. Oggi il Santo Padre è diventato un partner privilegiato nella ricerca astronomica. Direzione: il cosmo. 

Relations between scientists and the Church have not always been easy. So much so that Galileo was condemned in 1633 for defending heliocentrism. It was not until 1992 and a speech by John Paul II that a famous error was officially recognized. Things have changed since then. In the 20th century, the Belgian canon Georges Lemaître developed his famous Big Bang theory. In 1930, the Vatican opened its observatory in Castel Gandolfo. Today, the Holy Father has become a privileged partner in astronomical research. Direction: the cosmos.

Per l’anno 2025 il Servizio Poste e Filatelia della Direzione delle Telecomunicazioni e dei Sistemi Informatici del Governatorato dello Stato della Città del Vaticano, ha raccolto, in un unico volume, tutte le emissioni filateliche insieme agli annulli ufficiali adottati nel corso dell’anno.

The 2026 edition of the WSIS Forum, the United Nations' leading multilateral event dedicated to the information society, opens today in Geneva. The Forum is organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in collaboration with UNESCO, UNDP, and UNCTAD.

Completion of the restoration of the Hall of Constantine

After almost 10 years of restoration works, the Vatican Museum's Hall of Constantine was inaugurated during an official ceremony on Wednesday, 26 February. The ceremony was attended by Sr. Raffaella Petrini, Secretary General of the Governorate, Mr. Giuseppe Puglisi-Alibrandi, Deputy Secretary General, Barbara Jatta, Director of Museums and Cultural Heritage, Monsignor Terence Hogan, Coordinator of the Office for Relations with the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums, and Donna D’Urso, leader of the New York Chapter, accompanied by 25 members of the Patrons. The New York Chapter and the Eileen Carlson Estate financially supported the restoration, with a generous contribution. The massive restoration, which began in 2015, was one of the longest  projects to be funded, to date.

Wooden Lithuanian Cross replaced in Vatican Gardens

With a brief ceremony on Monday morning, 24 February, a restored Lithuanian wooden Cross was officially replaced in the Vatican Gardens. The ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of Lithuania to the Holy See, H.E. Ms. Sigita Maslauskaite-Mažiliene, accompanied by ChiefClerk, Elze Di Meglio. The Cross was restored by the Vatican Museums.
