Two New FDC Uncirculated 2025 Coin Sets, one with a €5 Bimetallic Coin commemorating “20th Anniversary of the Death of Saint John Paul II”: two issues that recount the faith and memory of the Church
The Vatican City State presents the first two numismatic issues of the year 2025, each of which, in its own way, bears witness to significant moments in the life and spiritual journey of the Church: the tribute to a Pope who has only recently completed his earthly pilgrimage, and the celebration of a saintly Pontiff who marked an era.
The final coin set of Pope Francis’s pontificate, produced shortly before his passing, now stands as a heartfelt tribute to his memory. His papal coat of arms appears prominently on each of the eight coins. This issue, destined to endure over time, preserves the memory of a pontificate that left a profound imprint on the history of the Church, of a shepherd who knew how to speak to the heart of the world with simplicity and mercy.
The €5 bimetallic coin, completing the nine-piece version, commemorates the twentieth anniversary of the death of Saint John Paul II and presents a vivid image of a pilgrim Pope, tireless witness of the Gospel. The Pontiff is depicted walking with open arms, in a gesture of welcome and blessing. Behind him, a stylized crowd accompanies him: the young and the marginalized, those who found hope and strength in him.
Two issues which, taken together, form a unified narrative of faith, memory and hope, offering the world not only a collection of artistic and spiritual value but also a tangible sign of the continuity and vitality of a faith that unites centuries with the hearts of believers.
