Work at The World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-25) in Baku Continues
The ITU plenary assembly agrees on new initiatives
At the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-25), the first results of the strategic objectives to catalyze collaboration and knowledge-sharing are taking shape, promoting innovation for a more inclusive digital future.
During the Conference, key resolutions and recommendations are being successfully agreed upon, establishing new policies and regulatory frameworks aimed at encouraging investment and international cooperation. These include:
- the new Resolution COM3/1, to strengthen the role of ITU regional offices in accelerating digital transformation and leveraging partnerships;
- the amendment to Resolution 17, on the implementation of approved regional initiatives and cooperation at the national, regional, interregional, and global levels;
- the amendment to Resolution 78, to strengthen capacities to prevent and combat the misappropriation and misuse of numbering resources in the ITU-T sector;
- the amendment to Resolution 84, to combat the theft of mobile telecommunications devices.
The entire approval process is being followed by more than 160 delegations present at the Conference. Among those attending is the Delegation of the Vatican City State, with the Director of of Telecommunications and Information Systems. Antonino Intersimone, participating in the most significant days of the Conference, and Deputy Director Luigi Salimbeni of the same Directorate, ensuring participation throughout the entire duration of the proceedings. The Vatican Delegation also includes Monsignor Lucio Adrian Ruiz and Francesco Masci, respectively Secretary of the Dicastery for Communication and Director of the Technological Directorate of the same Dicastery. As is customary within the ITU, the formal role of Head of Delegation is entrusted to Sr. Raffaella Petrini, President of the Governorate.
