Two new special postmarks from the Vatican Postal and Philatelic Service
The Postal and Philatelic Service of the Directorate of Telecommunications and Information Systems of the Governorate has created two special postmarks: one to mark the Apostolic Journey of Pope Leo XIV to Spain, taking place from 6 to 12 June, and the other for the Centenary of the Coronation of the Virgin of the Sagrario of Toledo.
The first postmark features a reinterpretation of the official logo of the Apostolic Journey with the motto “Alzad la mirada” (“Look up and see”, Jn 4:35). The postmark is completed by the inscriptions “Pope Leo XIV in Spain”, “Alzad la mirada (Jn 4:35)”, “06–12.06.2026” and “Poste Vaticane”.
The second postmark is inspired by the statue of the Virgin kept in the Sagrario Chapel of Toledo Cathedral in Spain. It also bears the inscriptions “Centenario dell’Incoronazione della Vergine del Sagrario di Toledo” [Centenary of the Coronation of the Virgin of the Sagrario of Toledo], “1926–2026” and “Poste Vaticane 30.05.2026”.
Philatelic material to be cancelled, duly stamped by applicants, must reach the Cancellations Section of the Postal and Philatelic Service by July 4th for the postmark commemorating the Centenary of the Coronation of the Virgin of the Sagrario of Toledo, and by July 31st for the postmark dedicated to the Apostolic Journey of Pope Leo XIV to Spain.
