A field trip to Tivoli with the Postal and Philatelic Service
On Wednesday, 10 June 2026, the staff of the Postal and Philatelic Service travelled to the picturesque hillside town of Tivoli for their annual company field trip.
The group gathered at 9:00 a.m. at the entrance to the historic Villa d’Este, led by the Head of Service, Fr Felice Bruno, and the Director of Telecommunications and Information Systems, Antonino Intersimone.
Divided into two groups, the participants were accompanied by two guides who, with great professionalism and in-depth knowledge of the subject, illustrated the history of this extraordinary Renaissance residence, closely linked to the figure of Cardinal Ippolito II d’Este.
At the end of the guided tour, the day continued at the Cathedral dedicated to Saint Lawrence Deacon and Martyr, where the group met with the governing authorities, Sr. Raffaella Petrini, President of the Governorate of Vatican City State, and the two Secretaries General, Msgr. Emilio Nappa — who presided over the celebration of Holy Mass — and Giuseppe Puglisi-Alibrandi.
Drawing inspiration from the first reading, in his homily the Archbishop highlighted how the prophet Elijah victoriously challenged the 450 priests of Baal on Mount Carmel before all the people of Israel. Msgr. Nappa emphasized how this biblical passage speaks with extraordinary power to our own time as well. We live in a society that tends to exalt numbers, power, appearances and consensus. Elijah, however, reminds us that in both our personal and professional lives, what truly makes the difference is not having the strength of numbers or the prestige of appearances on our side, but having the true God with us — that is, acting in truth, justice and love. The Mass concluded with a moment of fellowship and fraternity among those present.
The day offered the Governorate a valuable opportunity to express gratitude and closeness to the staff members who, each day, place their work at the service of Vatican City State. In turn, the staff expressed their appreciation for the support and closeness shown to them, which they experience as an encouragement to continue raising the quality of their work in service to the Holy Father.
