Seminar on the Protection of Minors and Vulnerable Persons
On Thursday 20 November, the Seminar on the Protection of Minors and Vulnerable Persons in the Vatican begins in the church of Mary, Mother of the Family at the Governorate, with a Holy Mass celebrated by Cardinal Mauro Gambetti, President of the Fabbrica di San Pietro.
The session, which takes place throughout the day in the Conference Hall of the Vatican Museums, is organized for the continuing education of the staff of the Governorate and the Holy See as part of the training program established by Law No. CCXCVII on the Protection of Minors and Vulnerable Persons of 26 March 2019, which entrusts the periodic organization of such initiatives to the Labor Office of the Apostolic See (ULSA), in cooperation with the Governorate’s Support Service.
Archbishop Emilio Nappa, Secretary General of the Governorate of Vatican City State, and Monsignor Marco Sprizzi, President of ULSA, introduce the proceedings in the conference hall of the Vatican Museums.
The first presentation is given by Atty. Floriana Gigli of the Governorate’s Legal Office, on the topic: “Listening to, safeguarding, protecting, and caring for minors and vulnerable persons: regulations and safeguards.”
Dr. Paolo Maurizio Soave, Deputy Director of the Directorate of Health and Hygiene of the Governorate, and Professor Daniela Pia Rosaria Chieffo, Psychologist-Psychotherapist of the same Directorate, addresses “Profiles of vulnerability and risk indicators: from prevention to accompaniment.”
Finally, Bishop Luis Manuel Ali Herrera, Secretary of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors, and Stefano Simone Mattei, Official of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors, speaks on “Cultural renewal, best practices and safe environments.”
