Members of the Board of the Vatican Observatory Foundation were received by Pope Leo XIV

Pope Leo received the members of the Board of the Vatican Observatory Foundation (VOF) in audience on Monday morning, May 11, in the Consistory Hall of the Apostolic Palace. Among those present were Cardinal Donald William Wuerl, Sr. Raffaella Petrini, President of the Governorate of Vatican City State, Br. Guy Consolmagno, S.J., President of the Vatican Observatory Foundation, Fr. Richard Anthony D’Souza, and Fr. Gabriele Gionti, respectively Director and Deputy Director of the Vatican Observatory.

During the meeting, the Pope expressed his gratitude for the work of the Foundation, which enables Vatican scientists to engage meaningfully with the general public and the global scientific community. He also noted that the Foundation’s generosity allows the Vatican Observatory to share the wonders of astronomy with students from all over the world and to offer workshops and summer schools to those serving Catholic schools and parishes.
