The Vatican participates in Earth Hour
Lights off in St. Peter’s Square
Turning off the lights of monuments for one hour to save energy and reduce CO₂ emissions. This is the Earth Hour initiative, promoted by the WWF, which has been observed worldwide for 20 years.
The Governorate of Vatican City State also participated, switching off the lights of the Colonnade of St. Peter’s Square for one hour, from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm, on Saturday, March 28. The Fabrica of St. Peter likewise arranged for the lighting of the dome and the façade of St. Peter’s Basilica to be turned off during the same hour.
