At the Dominican Philosophical Institute of Bologna the President of the Governorate gave a lecture on “Women in Christian Religious Life Today”

Leadership Oriented Toward Supporting Integral Human Development

Five significant dimensions of “women in Christian religious life today” — presence, formation, diversity, complexity, and service — were illustrated by Sr. Raffaella Petrini, President of the Governorate of the Vatican City State, during a lecture at the Dominican Philosophical Institute of Bologna on Friday morning, October 24.

In her address, which was part of the course “Figures of Women of Our Time”, Sr. Petrini emphasized that leadership must be “rooted in solidarity, which concerns not personality but behavior,” and “founded on the Christian principle of interdependence, with particular attention to the weakest members within every organization.”

In this sense, leadership should be “oriented toward promoting the development of organizations in a transparent way,” so as to help build that “social friendship” between men and women which leads “to learning to look beyond ourselves and our particular interests.”
