Premessa
Il 19 settembre 2016 la Santa Sede, agendo anche in nome e per conto dello Stato della Città del Vaticano, ha aderito alla Convenzione delle Nazioni Unite contro la Corruzione (cd. Convenzione di Mérida) con l’intento di “contribuire e dare il suo sostegno morale alla prevenzione globale, alla repressione ed alla persecuzione di tale crimine[1]”.
Attraverso la Dottrina Sociale, la Chiesa presenta “la sua risposta alle questioni etiche sollevate nel tempo dalle società e interpreta i valori morali delle attività sociali, compresa la leadership umana, offrendo principi guida, non soluzioni tecniche, coerenti con la visione evangelica della vita”. Così Suor Raffaella Petrini, Segretario Generale del Governatorato dello Stato della Città del Vaticano, intervenendo alla Keeley Vatican Lecture, mercoledì 1° novembre 2023, presso il Nanovic Institute for European Studies dell'Università Notre Dame, negli Stati Uniti d'America.
A call for careful discernment so that Artificial Intelligence may become a tool for the common good, promoting dialogue and fraternity. This appeal was made by Pope Leo XIV to the participants of the AI for Good Global Summit 2025, held in Geneva from July 8 to 11.
Pope Leo XIV has appointed Luigi Carbone, M.D. as the new Director of the Health and Hygiene department of Vatican City State, effective on August 1. He succeeds Professor Andrea Arcangeli, who has reached retirement age. This transition of department heads represents continuity at the helm of a Directorate that is a fundamental service for Vatican City.
