Pope Leo XIV visits the Principality of Monaco

The Postal and Philately Service of the Directorate of Telecommunications and Information Systems of the Governorate of the Vatican City State has produced a special postmark on the occasion of the apostolic journey of Pope Leo XIV to the Principality of Monaco, along with a special cancellation, a commemorative envelope, and a limited-edition folder for Easter, as well as ordinary postmarks dedicated to the Easter period.

The Postal and Philately Service dedicates a special postmark to the historic journey of the Pontiff to the Principality of Monaco on Saturday, March 28.

The design of the postmark features a rendering of the official logo of the apostolic journey with the motto “Je suis le Chemin, la Vérité et la Vie” (Jn 14:6).

The postmark is completed by the inscriptions “Papa Leone XIV nel Principato di Monaco,” “Je suis le Chemin, la Vérité et la Vie (Jn 14:6),” and “Poste Vaticane - 28.03.2026.”

On the occasion of the solemnity of Easter Sunday, April 5, a special postmark, a commemorative envelope, and a limited-edition folder will be issued.

The vignette on the envelope reproduces a detail from the cover painting “Resurrection of Christ” by Passignano, depicting an angel in adoration. The stamp has a value of €1.35, “Easter MMXXVI,” and was issued on February 26, 2026.

The design of the postmark reproduces part of the painting “Resurrection of Christ” by the painter Domenico Cresti, known as Passignano, preserved in the Vatican Pinacoteca. The postmark is completed by the inscriptions “Surrexit Christus Alleluia,” “Poste Vaticane,” and “05.04.2026.”

The commemorative envelope costs €3.00, or €10.00 if purchased within the illustrated folder. The products are available for purchase at all Postal and Philately Service offices. In particular, for users without access to the Vatican State, the Post Office located in St. Peter’s Square is available.

From April 5 to May 23, 2026, ordinary postmarks dedicated to the Easter period will be used at the various branches of the Postal and Philately Service to cancel all correspondence.
