Pope Leo XIV greets managers and staff of the “Floreria” and the Constructions Office of the Governorate
A valuable service for the Pope’s apostolic mission
“The work you carry out each day certainly represents a discreet and precious service for the Pope’s apostolic mission. It is part of the complex activity of the Governorate and of the Directorate for Infrastructure and Services, which I commend for the diligent management of many responsibilities within the Vatican City State.”
With these words, Pope Leo XIV addressed the managers, employees, and workers of the Floreria and the Constructions Office of the Governorate of the Vatican City State. He did so on Sunday morning, February 8, before the recitation of the Angelus, in the Clementine Hall of the Apostolic Palace.
The Pope expressed his gratitude, which is an “encouragement for future projects, concerning both the constant updating of technical and logistical services and the attentive care of the Vatican environments, especially the spaces dedicated to prayer and general meetings with the Pope.”
Indeed, he added, the decorum “of the areas and the safety of the structures find their highest meaning in the support given to the devotion of the faithful and to the pastoral work of the Church. In particular, St. Peter’s Basilica is a sacred place that must first and foremost be safeguarded as a temple of contemplation, recollection, and spiritual wonder. The square in front, which embraces the world with its magnificent colonnade, is, as one might say, the ‘calling card’ of our welcome to everyone.”
Among those present at the meeting were Sr. Raffaella Petrini and attorney Giuseppe Puglisi-Alibrandi, respectively President and Secretary General of the Governorate of the Vatican City State, Engineer Salvatore Farina, Director of Infrastructure and Services department, Massimo Toschi, Deputy Director of the Services Sector and Silvio Screpanti, Deputy Director Engineer of the Infrastructure Sector of the same department.
